Bogey

Well I just wanted to give you an update on Bogey.  He's doing great. He's definitely a mama's boy, he follows me everywhere.  He loves the car rides and I would have to say that I think that he may be our best dog.  We have this pillow for the dogs (well now it's just Bogey's, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs)  That he drags around and this is funny but he nurses it.  Everyone gets as kick out of him and the pillow.  He's 1/3 the love of my life (maybe I should make that 1/4 including the finance)  and I just want to thank you for introducing him into our lives!!! Thanks Michelle !!

Katrina

I just wanted to update you on our first week with kate(Katrina). She is still hesitant at times to having the leash put on, but really enjoys being out with us. She has mastered the art of going to the bathroom while on the leash, but I have found the tension on the retractable leash confuses her- she doesn't realize she is allowed to pull on it! She does well with a loose lead. She is learning her name and that hands can provide positive experiences. I am actually impressed at the progress we've seen in such a short time. She no longer jumps up when we walk past her and readily accepts petting/massage/brushing from both of us. She is learning that she has her own toys although she doesn't know how to play with them, she is starting to show some interest in them on her own. I found a web site dedicated to shy dogs and am looking forward to checking out their files. I think my favorite things are her smile and the fact that she now wags her whole tail instead of just the tip. Again I want to thank all of you for the wonderful work you do for the less fortunate critters in your neck of the woods (and for the opportunity to adopt one of them).    Sue

Rocky

Rocky is doing great. We had to take him to our vet because he was having a lot of drainage from his incision. He is done with the antibiotics and is fine. We were going to take him for an initial evaluation anyway so it was no big deal. The vet was really impressed with his personality and calmness for a puppy. He did a lot of teaching at that time too. Rocky has learned several new tricks and is a very loving dog. He gets a lot of exercise playing ball. He would get more rest if Lindsay would leave him alone but if she moves, he follows ! He gets us up during the night to go outside, but so far no accidents. He does not like going outside and getting mud on his feet ( we have a lot of clay and the grass did not come in very well last year.) He gets his feet cleaned before he comes in the house. So don't worry, he is getting a lot of love and attention, usually he comes looking for it! He is hilarious and definitely the perfect fit for our family. We made the right choice for him as our family pet !

Ginger

Just wanted to give you an update on how Ginger is doing. She seems very happy in her new home and is the most affectionate dog I have ever met. She loves to lay on our laps while we watch TV at night after our walks. She also has a favorite spot on the couch which looks out into the yard where the squirrels play. She is a huge fan of watching the squirrels, although I assume she would rather be out chasing them.

Walking her on the leash has been a little bit of work, she liked to pull a lot at first and try and crisscross all over the sidewalk, but now she is used to the flow and seems to like our nightly walks. In fact if I try to skip a night she brings me her leash for motivation. I have taken some pictures of her, ad am in the process of uploading them here at work so that I can send them on over to you. Hopefully that will be taken care of in the next week or so. Hope everything is going well with 4 Paws Sake and that other good homes are being found for Wayne's other fosters. I will send more updates soon. Thanks again for taking such good care of Ginger while you had her.

Bindi

Bindi has gotten into a schedule around the house.  She waits for me to get up in the morning, ignoring dad as he makes the coffee.  We go on daily walks around the block and have our rough housing in the evening.  She has been having a blast playing by herself with a tennis ball.  She throws it up in the air and runs and leaps through the air with it in her mouth.  She's made a race track out of the back yard, maneuvering and leaping over the dividers and paths in the garden.  I'm going to have to pay for some sod in the spring - with the rain, she has totally turffed an entire section of it!

For the most part she's been on very good behavior....but - she did find an escape route through the back fence and went into my neighbor's yard.  Their yard is fenced too so it was an easy retrieval.  We have since barricaded that path.  She stole a slipper and a boot...but just gently carried them around.

She loves to come upstairs and into "kitty's world".  She has been smacked a couple of times, but for the most part she just sits on the bed to watch the cat and then when she cant take it any more she chases him under the bed. Thanks again for big bundle of joy!  Take care.  ~ Charmaine

Roscoe

I just wanted to let you know that Roscoe is doing GREAT!!! He is very smart ,and is adapting to his new life quite well. He seems to be enjoying his first day at work also. Thanks for everything.

I would love to give you an update on Bruno. Yes, Bruno. We changed his name when we first got him. This dog has more energy than any dog on this planet. He loves to walk, play, r un, as long as he is on the go he is happy. He is VERY smart. He does things that will amaze me at times. We often go to the park and go for walks in the woods. He loves to play with Rufus. Rufus is my sons English Bulldog. The two of them are quite a pair. I take him to work 3 or 4 days a week. When he is not at work he is spending the day with Rufus. I will give you an example of how smart he is. I own a trucking company,  I have 10 trucks that return to the warehouse at the end of the day. One of my drivers will give Bruno a treat at the end of the day. Bruno is so smart that he can tell by just the sound of the truck when that driver pulls in. I will send you a couple of pictures, I also would like to put together a video of him in the park to send you. Thanks again, Paul

Silas

He is doing great. I had to change his name to Shilo, Silas sound to close to Isis and it was causing some confusion. He and Isis are great for each other; He has made her a better and happier dog. He loves sleeping in the bed, playing for hours, Oh favorite thing they both like doing now is rolling around in the mud. We are working on that taking a bath isn’t a bad thing (he getting better at it). He is a great big puppy and Isis & me love him. I’ll keep you updated.

Thank you,

Karl

Sidney

I’m sorry it’s been so long.  I keep thinking of writing or dropping off some pictures – I have the paper kind, not the electronic kind – but get sidetracked.

Sid’s still great.  I can honestly say she doesn’t do anything wrong.  She’s even had some doggy guests that have set some bad examples and she just kind of looks at them like “what are you doing?

She is still not fond of the squirrels, but I keep her on the lead or I guard the piece of the back fence that she can get over so that she can run around some. I’m going to add a higher fence here once it gets a little warmer out.   I’ve been taking her to Rover Come Over every couple of weeks.  She seems to really like it there and they love her.  They say that she stays active the entire time and just wants to play with the other dogs.

Although she still likes playing ball, she has become a big fan of tug o’ war.  That’s usually the game of choice once I get home (unless she’s gone to Rover Come Over – she just passes out after a day there).  She’s still staying in the crate while I go to work, but I leave her out when I’ll just be gone for a little bit.  I discovered she now likes this because she houdini’d herself out of the cage one day and was fine when I got back.  A lot of times she’ll just come for the ride in the car with me.

She’s good at sit, is amazing at catching treats mid air and knows how to shake.  I’m working on getting her to go down the basement steps, but so far there’s not a treat big enough that will have her take that endeavor.

A few things we have planned for the warmer weather –Some leash training, agility classes & trying to nurture compatibility between Sid and my friend’s dog.  Sid is all ready.  Titus not so much.  He’s ~7 year old lab mix (also rescue dog) that used to love to play with all dogs.  His house is full of cats and he’s always been good with them.  As he ages though he seems to have less tolerance for new guys.  We’ll see how that goes.

Sid sleeps in the bed with me each night.  She usually gets up earlier than me but will just move herself to the foot of the bed and stare out the window until I’m ready to get up, give her some belly rub time and take her out.

I can’t imagine not having Sid.  I promise before this month is done I will take her for a visit to you and get you some pictures.  I will be in touch – promise.

I promised to send you updates and pictures. Here are some pictures of our spoiled boy. The ones where he's covered up were taken when we lost power from the ice storm, it was really cold in our house-we froze, but he slept like a baby! The rest are self explanatory...he's very proud of his new coat, if I don't put it on him when taking him outside, he stands at the door looking at me like I've forgotten something.
Don't know how I lived so long without him!

Nigel

Nigel is doing really well.  We have had a few accidents in the house...but I had expected that as he gets used to it here.  He is definitely getting spoiled, loves having a big yard, and really likes taking walks.  Also, he has enjoyed hopping in the car and going over to my parents house to be spoiled and cuddle on the couch with my dad.  Sorry I didn't email you earlier.  I've spoken with Trish a few times and definitely appreciate having a resource to contact whenever I have questions.  I'll have some pictures soon once I get the developed.

Emmie

Well I don't know were to begin. This dog has such a personality it's amazing. She has definitely taken over my house, my backyard and even gets all the attention from company when they come over. She definitely makes an impression on everyone that meets
her. Even the lady at Kroger's said to me you must have a lucky dog because every time I'm there I buy her new bones. I've never had a dog that likes snow as much as her. It's like a big playground for her when I let her outside and she sees snow. I've made the mistake of letting her start sleeping with me so now she's taken over my bed. All in all she is a very good dog with a lot of puppy in her. You're more than welcome to stop over the house anytime you want to see her.

The trip home was great!  She has been wonderful - just exploring the house and the yard.  Yesterday we went outside in the back with no leash twice and I walked her to the mailbox on her leash.  Last night we went out again to go to the bathroom and she did her business and then wanted to come back in.  This morning we went out front without a leash and she did her business and the explored a little but made sure I was in sight at all times.  She stays by my side and loves to play ball.  I feel like she & I were meant to be.  You know how your toilet is bolted to the floor and then there is a white cover cap, well she found those and wanted to chew on them, but she gave them up very easily.  She has a few rag bones that she likes  to chew on and play tug of war, and a few large bones she has spread out around the house.  She slept on my bed all night and hardly moved.  She is very inquisitive and likes to see what I am doing, but doesn't bother things.  I think you have taught her well.  As a matter of fact, she is wanting to go outside again.
Thanks for all the love and care you gave to her and know that I will continue on.
Oh yea, I decided to name her Sadie.

Well, going well doesn't quite express how she is doing.  We did rename her Abbi (after Abbigail in the Bible) and it took her all of one day to catch onto the new name.

She is an absolutely wonderful dog.  Deb loves her and Abbi loves Deb.  She had some initial separation anxiety issues, but we dealt with that and she now has no problems at all when we leave her alone.  We walk her a couple of miles almost every day (she is getting used to that and seems to really look forward to her walks). I walk her in the mornings and Deb walks her in the afternoons.  She has, obviously, had some training and is an absolute joy to walk.

She went to the vet last week.  She had a quick exam and we got her more heartworm pills.  Deb also put her on Frontline Plus as we spend a lot of time outside.  We are considering enrolling her in some classes.

She is getting used to us and to her new home and her personality is really starting to come out.  She is starting to play games with us and she feels comfortable enough to really run and play ball in the back yard.

If you can't tell, we love her and we both consider ourselves blessed to have found Abbi.  She will have a wonderful home for as long as she lives.

She doesn't chew on anything and we haven't had to put any of Deb's stuffed bears out of her reach and, now that she is feeling comfortable and "at home" with both our home and with us, she is starting to show her love and she is responding extremely well to praise and positive reinforcement.  I can't think of any moment that either of us has been upset with her for any reason.

So, I guess that, all in all, we couldn't be happier with Abbi and we thank you so very much for giving us the opportunity to have her be a part of our family.
