Bud

Bud was pulled from a very high kill shelter.  He was very scared and timid when he was rescued.  Bud tested positive for Heart Worm.  He had a very hard time after his first treatment and ended up back in the vets office for 3 days.  After a few weeks of recovery we noticed a tumor on his belly.  Bud had cancer.  With him having heartworm, they could not put him under to remove the tumor.  Bud received a local sedative.  I was there holding his head and the tumor was removed.  Test results showed that the cancer was contained within the tumor.  Bud had a will to live, he is a fighter and has made  a remarkable recovery.  He is once again a healthy, happy lab.

Thank you to the many people who donated for Bud's treatment.  A special thank you to Lab Life Line for their generous donation.

After fostering this guy for 6 months, bud is my true Buddy and has found a great home here with me.

Just wanted to let you know that we received your message and Casey is doing really good. However, Casey is now Chance. We renamed him since he is getting a second chance with us.

He warmed up to us really fast and is so much fun.

I have attached a picture for you. We'll send you updates as time
goes by..

Thanks again,

Benson is doing great. He gets along with both our other dogs. They seem to be acting younger around him. He used to antagonize them, now they go after him to play. He is up to 51.5 lbs. He is definitely the most unique Basset we have had so far.

Thanks again.

Cindy Lou

I wanted to drop you a quick note about
Cindy Lou - now Maddie. She is a cute, feisty, funny, sassy, little thing. We enjoy her a lot!!! She
is getting along well with our 3 yr. old sheltie mix - Sadie. She follows Sadie everywhere & we love to watch them play.

Sadie lets her know when she is done & Maddie is learning quickly. We took her up north & there were 4 other dogs around. Maddie thought
she could take them all on!! She isn't super cuddly but she likes to be with you & lie on your feet. We are sooo happy we have her & I promise we
will take good care of her. Please pass this onto the other volunteers & staff at 4 Paws.

I have enclosed some pictures & will continue to send them
periodically.

She is growing up so fast. Thanks again,

Cathy

Sadie

Sadie is absolutely wonderful! She has adjusted to her new home without a hitch -- no accidents, sleeps through the night without a peep, no destructive behavior when left alone, etc. She is so very, very, VERY sweet. I love her to death and smother her with kisses. Andrea did such a good job with her; she's a very well-adjusted dog.

She and I spent this past Sunday at my parents' house and she got along with their black lab just fine and enjoyed wandering through the yard sniffing out everything and chasing squirrels. She got her first bath with me that day, though -- we discovered she likes to roll in stinky stuff (like most dogs!). I've been working with her on heeling when we take our walks and have looked into obedience training at either PetSmart or with BarkBusters (have you heard of them? if so . . . do you have any opinion?).

Today is the first day I've been back to work (I had to bring in pictures to show everyone!) -- I will only be here a half day so I can ease her into my being absent and assuring her that I will, in fact, return. I'm also taking half days tomorrow and Friday.

My cats are somewhat unsure of her as of yet and are just staying out of her way -- when they do make appearances, she chases them a bit (not maliciously -- just to play), and they take off and hide. I'm sure this will all work out given time.

Thank you so very much for bringing us together!! I told Andrea I will keep in touch with her and send pictures periodically. I don't, however, have her E-mail address with me right now so I can't cc her on this message; please let her know everything is going very well!

Please feel free to write and check up on us anytime!

Best regards,
Stephanie

Lola

She is just getting better and happier as the days go by! She loves being outside and is having a great time since the weather has been nice. I just took her
out when I got home from work an hour ago and all she wanted to do was run around! I was determined that
she would and needed to go potty. We stayed outside for about 20 minutes until she finally peed! Yippee!

She is so cute! I've attached some pics for you that I took today. I took some yesterday, but she was still scared with her tail between her legs. This pics
would be better suited for the happy tails on the site.

We thank you and will talk to you soon!

Olivia

WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER!!! She is such a gentle spirit and exactly what our family needed - a family pet who is playful, loving, and very cuddly. She has made herself at home and seems to be adjusting well.

The first day was great (but I think we may have over-stimulated her with meeting family, neighbors, other dogs, etc.) She crawled into her crate and slept through the night without a peep. The next day was wonderful with playing, practicing a few tricks, and lots of bonding. (OOPS Also double play dates with a yellow lab who lives next door.) That night, however, she barked for what seemed like an hour. Larry offered her comforting reassurance and covered part of her crate with a sheet. Then, right to sleep. The next day, she and Larry hung out all day while I took Austin to
school. He could not have been more positive and sure about our decision to
adopt Olivia. Like I said, WE LOVE HER. We're convinced she was staying with you for those two months waiting for us to come and meet her. I know it sounds hokey, but we feel like she was meant to be a part of our family.

Other updates: she is walking with a leash after only two days. She's very strong, but each time I take her she is pulling less and less. Potty training iss going very well (thank you for all that). Austin has taught
her to take treats very gently from our hands. She's also doing well with "sit" and "shake" but sometimes has a mind of her own and looks at us with that "make me, I don't feel like it" look. This evening on our walk she pulled toward a woman who resembled you strongly. For a moment she looked confused, glancing at this lady, then me, then the lady, then me, and then kept walking. There have been times when she's had a brief far-away look
when I know she's thinking about you or her old doggie friends, but I also know we will love her and make a safe and happy home for her. She really is all the bit of "sweet" you said she was.

We were going to call to ask you a few questions tho. She seems to be fascinated with going down to the basement. Was that part of her old routine? We were just wondering. And then the other question was about her
eating. She does this industrial strength/speed inhaling of food. Was she
afraid the other dogs were going to eat hers? Our old dog Polo was fast, but Olivia has got to hold the record.

Again, thank you so much for taking such good care of her. And thank you for introducing us to Olivia and helping us get to know her a little. We are hoping that she will live a long and healthy, happy life with us.
Please call anytime. We will be happy to share our stories with you.

Thanks,

Ev, Larry, and Austin Mylander
PS Olivia says to say hi to Shiisma. She misses her too

Scruffy

I wanted to take a second and let you know how wonderful of a job you are doing for the pets who need parents! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide "scruffy", now known as "shadow lake hardie" (per my 4yr old) a safe and loving home. Within minutes our other jack-sadie and shadow were chasing each other around as if they've known each other forever. Shadow even has an idea of where he is suppose to go potty however, the rain today isn't helping that idea but that's what potty pads are for. He took to his "den" very good. It only took him 4 minutes of howling before he fell asleep, and just like a little baby, he woke up at 6:30am, went potty (outside) and went back to sleep until the family woke up. He's an awesome dog! I attached a couple of pictures so you can see how much fun he is having here.
Thanks Again,

Erin

We adopted ( Darin) who now is Jack he is the greatest dog we love him so much. he has had 2 haircuts and trip to the vets and everything is great. We have taken him camping a couple times and he does great. At first he had some separation issues but now he knows that we will always come home to him. he loves his squeaker toys, he loves to  watch TV  with us and if another dog is on TV he will go up to the TV and try to play with it. We have adopted another dog so he now has a brother they get along great.

Thank you so much for rescuing jack.
